New dancers

Unsure of which class you’d like to take? Pay for the first one then try them all for a whole week! See the admin staff about 10-15 minutes before class to sign up (Regular $22/Concession $18) then and show the receipt for any other class for the following week. Ask our lovely admins for further details. And… in addition to a physical workout, dance is an excellent exercise in mental well-being.

CDT is a member of Ausdance ACT and follows the Australian Guidelines for Teaching Dance, as published by Ausdance National, and the Code of Ethics for Dance Teachers. All classes have warm-ups and cool-downs.

We encourage feedback about classes and teachers directly to the office staff, to office.canberradancetheatre@gmail.com, or through the contact function on the contact page. Have a compliment or a gripe? Let the office staff know quickly so we can pass it on.

Term classes will run on public holidays by prior arrangement by teachers and students.

In these dance workshops you will have the opportunity to touch upon different facets of Hip Hop including; Groove and Choreography. These workshops are catered to all dancers to explore in a fun and educational environment!

Oliver Ransan-ElliottTeacher PL with Oliver Ransan-Elliot 1pm to 4pm, Saturday 15 July

We are very fortunate to have Oliver as our teacher for the afternoon. Oliver is an experienced physiotherapist and Pilates instructor with a background in dance – he was a dancer with the Australian Ballet Company and the West Australian Ballet Company. He has a special interest in rehabilitation for dancers. Oliver is well qualified to offer us an expert perspective on the topic of our workshop: biomechanics and dance.

Through this lens we will explore what can be learned from current academic literature and how we can take these insights into teaching a variety of styles of dance. We will examine what it means to be fit for dance, ways of assisting our students to increase their fitness (flexibility, strength and endurance) and decrease their risk of injury. We will also touch on the science of pain.

Free to 2017 CDT teachers, $75 to others, all welcome. Please rsvp to either Jacqui or Neil by Monday 10th July.
