Would you like to contribute a short dance to CDT’s performance at the Drill Hall Gallery?
We are calling all CDT dancers and/or choreographers interested in creating a short dance work inspired by a visual art exhibition: Euan Macleod’s Flux.
We are planning a CDT performance at the Drill Hall Gallery on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October 2024.
The program will include works performed by CDTribe, GOLD, Hilal and some other classes. This will be a ticketed performance, with the audience paying to attend (ticket proceeds will go toward Drill Hall Gallery staff costs.)
We are keen to hear from anyone who attends CDT classes, who is interested in making a choreographic contribution to this performance.
The idea is that these short dances will provide a thread between the larger group works.
The brief
Create and perform a short work inspired by the exhibition that will be hanging in the Gallery at the time of our performance.
The artist is Euan Macleod. Some information about him and his work is here. The exhibition will open on 12 September, so you’ll be able to see the works in the Gallery from that date.
- Your dance will be between 1 and 3 minutes in length.
- It could be a solo, or a group of not more than 3.
- It should include little or no floor work (as the audience will be seated on the same level as the performance area).
- You will select your own music.
- The artistic director may provide a brief for costumes.
- You will have free access to the CDT studio for rehearsals.
- The Artistic Director will be available to offer support in your creative process.
- You need to be able to perform on both Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October.
How to apply
In your Expression of Interest please include:
- Your name
- Whether you’re envisaging a solo or a small group
- If small group, who are the other dancers
- A brief description of what attracts you about this project
- When you would plan to rehearse (see the CDT Studio Booking Calendar).
The deadline for Expressions of Interest is Sunday 1 September. Please email your Expressions of Interest to office.canberradancetheatre@gmail.com
Decisions will be made by the Artistic Director and one member of the CDT Board. You will be notified of the outcome by Friday 6 September. Please contact Jacqui if you’d like to discuss further, at office.canberradancetheatre@gmail.com
