Laura received her professional dance and teacher training in England and owned a very successful dance school in England and held the position of School Principal for 20 years. The students received training in all dance disciplines and were provided with many performance opportunities as well the option to participate in dance examinations. Many of her students pursued careers or further training in Dance and theatre. In 2003 Laura migrated to Australia with her family. She has taught classical ballet at various private dance studios in Canberra and has devised and choreographed many ballets for annual performances.
Laura gained her BA (Hons) in Dance Education and teaches dance at a secondary Catholic girl’s college as well as teaching classical ballet at QL2 Dance. She regularly provides opportunities for her students to participate in professional dance workshops and to view and experience a variety of professional dance performances, in addition to developing their choreographic skills and providing them with theoretical knowledge. Laura has helped organise two overseas dance tours to the USA for the secondary school students and is in the process of organising a third tour in 2017. Laura also choreographed ‘Cats’ for Free Rain in 2012 and in 2014 was awarded an Excellence Award from the CEO for her commitment and dedication to the Arts at Merici College. She is passionate about the performing arts and is always looking for ways to inspire and enhance student learning experiences.
